Welcome to Dear HRBN

This is a space for letters written in response to stories that linger long after the final word. Here, we welcome the wisdom we are still learning to live by and the truths that do not have neat, tidy endings.

You do not need perfect prose or polished conclusions to participate, you only need the honesty, care, and courage to show up as you are. These letters are read slowly and shared with intention; they are not performances or proclamations. They are offerings.

Welcome to the conversation.

From Our Circle

Chantal Fraser, CA

Growing foods and medicine is one way that I can show my love for the beautiful reciprocal world that I live in.

One's vision does not expire simply because someone else executes first. Vision evolves, matures, and often finds another door.

Tresha Wallace, CA

“I am because we are, is more than a beautiful sentiment; it is a responsibility to ensure no one is left behind.

The Wisdom of the Unspoken

For the month of June, we invite you to write a letter to an elder, either someone who is still with us or someone whose influence continues to shape your path.

The Prompt: Think of a lesson, or a 'way of being' that you inherited from an elder, which you didn't fully understand at the time. Write a letter to them (or to your younger self) explaining how that piece of wisdom has evolved in your life. What does that lesson mean to you now, in this season of your life, that it couldn't have meant when you were younger?

Stay Rooted. Stay Connected.
