"When your garden works with your lifestyle, it becomes something you enjoy rather than something you have to keep up with."

I believe that this is true for everything from gardening to growing a business. When you create something that works with your lifestyle, then everything becomes easier.

I've been contemplating planting seeds to get a head start on a new garden this summer (2026). Reading Carol's story reminded me that I should wait until I am fully present to start those seeds.

This year, I am focusing on herbs and greens that I enjoy eating, and would also like to start growing Tobacco, as medicine, in container gardens.

Because the Metis elder I spoke to about growing Tobacco, taught me that this is a lifetime commitment, that I have to be able to move the medicine with me, when I eventually move from my current home to another.

Growing foods and medicine is one way that I can show my love for the beautiful reciprocal world that I live in.

Thank you for sharing Carol's HRBN story!

It does not fight the rushing air, but finds a grace in being there. In swaying motion, wild and free, it learns the art of letting be.
